Sprint To Shut Down Nextel Network Next Year

Sprint is planning to shut down the Nextel network as of June next year as the company wants to free up space for their next-generation LTE network. Sprint has been planning to shut down Nextel for a long time. “Sprint will send written notices to business and government customers beginning June 1, 2012, regarding the iDEN Nextel National Network shutdown,” said Sprint said in a statement. “Additional notices are planned for distribution to the iDEN base multiple times over the next year as the shutdown of the iDEN Nextel National Network becomes more imminent.”
