The Rickroll

On May 2007, the 4chan community started the Rickroll meme. 4chan users would send “important messages” to each other, which would actually result in them watching Rick Astley’s music video for “Never Gonna Give You Up.” At the peak of the meme in 2008, about 18 million adults in the U.S. admitted to be Rickrolled. Rick Astley himself went to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade to Rickroll everybody on live TV.
