Battery Replacement For MacBook Pro With Retina Display Will Cost $199
If you buy a MacBook Pro with Retina Display, you will NOT be happy to hear that replacing the battery after your warranty or AppleCare expires will cost $199. The 95-watt battery in the MacBook Pro with Retina Display will see a $70 increase from the price of $129 that Apple charges for battery replacements on the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air.
Before the MacBook Pro with Retina Display was launched, all of Apple’s laptops had easily removable batteries. After Apple released unibody machines were released, Apple designed a new type of battery that had a much longer battery life and an increased number of charge cycles.
The MacBook Pro battery can be recharged around 1,000 times before the charge capacity drops to 80% of normal. The Apple standard 1-year warranty and the 3 year warranty included with the AppleCare Protection Plan cover batteries that have failed or have a diminished capacity because of a manufacturing defect. This article was written by Amit Chowdhry.
