DreamWorks Studios Buys “Need For Speed” Feature Film Rights

DreamWorks Studios has bought the feature film rights to “Need For Speed” from Electronic Arts. George Gatins and John Gatins have developed the original story and George wrote the screenplay. EA would produce alongside John Gatins and Mark Sourian. Scott Waugh would be the director. The Need For Speed movie has a target production date of early next year 2014. Need For Speed is one of EA’s most famous franchises. About 140 million copies of all of the Need For Speed games have sold worldwide, estimating about $4 billion in retail revenue. [Deadline.com]
