Microsoft: No Plans To Manufacture Their Own Phones

Last week Microsoft announced that they would be manufacturing their own tablet called the Surface. The Microsoft Surface is the company’s response to the Apple iPad. This led people to believe that Microsoft will start manufacturing their own phones. When Microsoft Senior Marketing Manager for Windows Phone Greg Sullivan asked if they plan to manufacture their own smartphone, he said “No, we do not.” Microsoft will soon release Windows Phone 8, which will be on phones manufactured by Nokia, HTC, Samsung, and other companies. Microsoft’s manufacturing partners were caught off-guard because they did not know about the Surface before-hand.
