Dell has acquired Quest Software, a systems management and security company, for $2.4 billion ($28 per share). This acquisition symbolizes Dell’s strategy to diversify beyond PC manufacturing. Dell said that the acquisition will provide “critical components” to expand their software capabilities in systems management, data security, and data protection.  Dell will integrate Quest’s 1,500 software sales employees and 1,300 software developers into their systems management, cloud, and security division.  The acquisition is expected to close in Q3 after approval from Quest’s shareholders.
