Over 100,000 Gmail Accounts Were Also Hacked By D33Ds

Earlier today, we wrote about how over 400,000 Yahoo! Voice was hacked and placed in a forum. Now we know that over 100,000 Gmail, Hotmail, MSN, Comcast, AOL, SBC Global, Live.com, and Verizon accounts have been hacked as well. Hacker group D33Ds Company claimed responsibility for the hack. The hacker group wanted these companies to realize how insecure their networks.

“We hope that the parties responsible for managing the security of this subdomain will take this as a wake-up call, and not as a threat. There have been many security holes exploited in Web servers belonging to Yahoo Inc. that have caused far greater damage than our disclosure. Please do not take them lightly. The subdomain and vulnerable parameters have not been posted to avoid further damage.”

The breach happened came from the Yahoo Contributor Network, which lets users sign up using their Yahoo!, Google, or Facebook login. If you do not know whether your account has been hacked, VentureBeat has written an article about how to find out.
