Coursera Raises $22 Million

Coursera is a one year old startup company that was founded by scientists at Stanford University. Coursera has announced that they have raised $22 million in funding. This fall Coursera will offer 100 or more massive open online courses (MOOCs), which is expected to bring in millions of students globally.

Daphne Koller and Andrew Ng are the founders of Coursera. Coursera has 680,000 registered students across 43 courses through their partners University of Michigan, Princeton University, Stanford University, and the University of Pennsylvania.

Coursera’s new partners will include the California Institute of Technology, Duke University, Georgia Tech, Johns Hopkins, Rice University, University of California-San Francisco, University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign, University of Washington, and the University of Virginia.
