WATCH: The Story Of Nelson Mandela As Told By Social Media

Nelson Rolihlahla Mandelaus is a South African politician that has served as the President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999.  In 1962, he was arrested on sabotage and other charges.  He was sentenced to a life in prison, but ended up serving 27 years.  Most of those years were spent on Robben Island.

He was released in 1990 after leading the negotiations for the establishment of democracy in 1994.  If he had access to social media back then, would he have been thrown in jail?  Who knows?  Check out a social media explanation of the story around Mandela’s life below as put together by CentreofMemory:
