Jessica Redfield Scholarship Fund Hits $24,000 Goal In Less Than 24 Hours
Jessica Redfield (real name: Jessica Ghawi) was a victim at “The Dark Knight Rises” massacre. A scholarship fund has been set up in her name. She was an aspiring sports journalist and the scholarship has hit its goal of $24,000 in less than 24 hours. The scholarship was set up by Peter Burns, a radio talk show host at Mile High Sports in Denver. Burns said that Jessica was a close friend and follow intern.
“Jessica and I were real close, we knew each other back in San Antonio where I did my morning show there and she loved it, she was just amazing,” said Burns. “I think that’s what’s real tragic here is that she never got the full opportunity to reach her potential in which ever any of those were. I tell you she lived more in 24 years than most people live in their entire lives.”
Burns is working with Jessica’s brother Jordan to set up the Jessica Redfield Foundation college scholarship.
The goal was for the Jessica Redfield Sports Journalism Scholarship Fund to hit $20,000 in 120 days. They were able to get more than the desired funding in less than 24 hours. One of the largest donations came from the sports teams like the Los Angeles Kings and the Los Angeles Galaxy through Phil Anschutz’s Anschutz Entertainment Group.
