Google Acquires Social Media Marketing Company Wildfire Interactive For $250 Million
Google has acquired Wildfire Interactive for $250 million. Wildfire Interactive helps companies manage their presence on Facebook and Twitter. Google outbid Facebook for the deal. Previously Google tried to buy Buddy Media, but they lost on that deal to Salesforce.com.
Wild Interactive started in 2008 with a seed grant from the Facebook fbFund and Gary Vaynerchuk. Some of the company’s clients include Sony, Amazon.com, and Verizon. Wildfire founders Victoria Ransom and Alain Chuard will be joining Google. Mark Zuckerberg’s sister Arielle works at Wildfire and will also be joining Google.
“Congrats Wildfire! There are officially now more Zuckerberg family members working for Google than Facebook! #awkward ;),” tweeted Mark Zuckerberg’s other sister Randi Zuckerberg. Arielle Zuckerberg works as a junior product manager at Wildfire. Wildfire has 400 employees. This article was written by Amit Chowdhry.
