eBay Launching eBay Now, Same-Day Delivery In San Francisco

eBay has started a new same-day delivery program in San Francisco.  The new service is known as eBay Now.  eBay Now allows suers to make purchases of over $25 from local stores and receive them the same day after paying $5 shipping.  eBay invited certain users over this past weekend, but anyone can register for an invite here.

eBay is taking $15 off a users’ first purchase and has waived the shipping fee on their first three purchases.  eBay Now is available as an iOS app on the iPhone and iPad.  San Francisco residents will be able to use the service between 9AM and 9PM.

Stores that are participating on eBay Now include Macy’s, Target, Toys ‘R’ Us, and Best Buy.  It is unknown when eBay will expand to other cities, but clearly this is an example of intense rivalry between Amazon and eBay.  Amazon has started to inch closer towards same day shipping after making tax deals with several states.
