Seth Horvitz Orders TV From Amazon, Gets An Illegal Rifle
Seth Horvitz is a man in Washington D.C. that received an illegal rifle in the mail when he actually ordered a television from Amazon.com according to Wired. “When I saw some metal parts inside the box, I thought, ‘Maybe this is a TV stand or mount or something,” said Horvitz in an interview. “When I realized it was an assault rifle, it was pure shock and disbelief.”
Horvitz ordered a Westinghouse 39-inch LCD TV from Amazon for about $320. When he discovered that he received a weapon instead, he contacted the local police. The police confiscated the box and the officers told Horvitz that the Sig Sauer 716 patrol rifle was illegal in Washington D.C.
Inside of the box was an in avoid for $1,590 and it was addressed to Independence Gun Shop, a business based in Pennsylvania from Gunbuyer.com. Amazon.com gave Horvitz the standard “line of sending a dispute claim for sending the wrong product.”
UPS was likely the culprit for the mix-up because the box had two different labels on it. One with Horvitz’s address and another label. This article was written by Amit Chowdhry. You can follow me at @amitchowdhry or on Google+ at +AmitChowdhry
