Airbnb Hit Over 60,000 Booking Lodgings In One Day Last Weekend

Airbnb is an online marketplace for setting up short-term accommodations.  In June Airbnb hit 10 million nights booked.  Last Saturday Airbnb hit over 60,000 guest bookings in a single day.  That number is five times the number of guests it had in the year before.  Around 75% of the guests were using the marketplace for the first time.  There are guests from 174 different countries around the world including guests that are as far as Zimbabwe and Nepal.  Two-thirds of the guests are outside of the U.S. and speak over 30 different languages like Japanese, Punjabi, Finnish, and sign language.  [TechCrunch]
