Programmers Build Gmail Extension That Says “You’ve Got Mail”

When checking your AOL Mail, you will hear a voice saying “You’ve got mail.”  This has been an icon phrase since the 1990’s when AOL was one of the top Internet Service Providers at the time.  A new Google Chrome extension has been created to play the AOL sound every time you get a new e-mail in your Gmail.  The extension was created by Chris Baker and Mike Lacher.

“[We} were just joking about the old days of the internet and how we never really got that AOL guy’s voice out of our heads,” said Baker. “Then we just threw the plugin together and realized it was both funny and kind of useful.”
