REPORT: Steve Jobs’ House Was Robbed

Steve Jobs’ house has been robbed and thousands of dollars worth of computers and personal items were stolen. Thirty-five year old Kariem McFarlin of Alameda was charged in the July 17th robbery. Over $60,000 worth of computers and personal items were allegedly stolen from Jobs’ house.
He was arraigned 5 days later on one count of residential burglary and for selling stolen property. McFarlin remains in county jail on $500,000 bail and could face a maximum prison sentence of 7 years and 8 months including a one-year enhancement for “excessive taking of property.” He will return to court on August 20th to enter a plea.
Crimes in the Bay Area cities have seen a double-digit increase in the first half of the year. Palo Alto police said that the city’s 63% increase is because of unlocked doors and windows so they have started a “Lock It or Lose It” campaign earlier this year to change that behavior.
Police have suggested that McFarlin was likely unaware of the home’s significance.
