This Collar Text Messages You When Your Dog Gets Hot

Rethink Toronto is working on a project on behalf of the Toronto Humane Society, which uses a coded chip, SIM card, and thermistor to send an SMS text message when the temperature hits 26 degrees Celsius (over 79 degrees Fahrenheit) around the dog. The project was inspired by Aaron Starkman, who left his golden retriever Hefty in the car and forgot to leave the window open a crack. After a 20-minute-long lineup, Heft struggled in the heat.
