Apple Hits Most Valuable Publicly Traded Company Ever With Market Cap Of Over $620B

Apple’s stock price has risen 2.63% today to hit $665.15 per share. Now the company’s market cap is at over $620 billion. The last time a company has had this kind of market cap, it was Microsoft in 1999. On December 30, 1999, Microsoft reached as high as $119.94 per share. This means that Apple has become the most valuable publicly traded company ever.
Since Microsoft had a documented 5,160,024,593 outstanding shares as of October 31, 1999, in their quarterly earnings report, Microsoft would have had a market cap of $618.89 billion on December 30.
As of Apple’s quarterly report on July 13, 2012, the company has 937,406,000 outstanding shares. Since their stock price is at $665.15 per share, Apple’s market cap is now at $623.52 billion.
