Sqrrl Raises $2 Million

is a data startup company that had technology originally created by the National Security Agency (NSA).  Sqrrl has raised $2 million in seed funding from Matrix Partners and Atlas Venture.  Sqrrl’s technology is supposed to have a secure, scalable, and adaptable way for companies to manager large amounts of data.  Sqrrl is built on Apache Accumulo, which is a database built on top of the distributed file system Hadoop.
