Google’s Response To Samsung-Apple Verdict

A few days ago, Apple won a $1.05 billion ruling against Samsung.  The jury essentially ruled that Samsung stole ideas from Apple including pinch-to-zoom, touch-to-zoom, and a rubber-band effect when scrolling that is used on the Android operating system built into Samsung phones.  Google had been sitting quietly on the sidelines observing the case.  Below is a statement from the company as it was sent to The Verge:

“The court of appeals will review both infringement and the validity of the patent claims. Most of these don’t relate to the core Android operating system, and several are being re-examined by the US Patent Office. The mobile industry is moving fast and all players — including newcomers — are building upon ideas that have been around for decades. We work with our partners to give consumers innovative and affordable products, and we don’t want anything to limit that.”
