Mich. State Spartans Football Coach Mark Dantonio Upset With Tweets About Michigan’s Alabama Loss

Mark Dantonio
Michigan State University football coach Mark Dantonio is serious about good sportsmanship on and off the field.  Dantonio takes the Michigan State-Michigan rivalry very seriously, but knows that a line should not be crossed when it comes to rivalry.

Several Michigan State players mocked Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson and the Wolverines for their 41-14 loss to Alabama on Saturday night.  Spartans starting linebacker Denicos Allen tweeted that Tommy Vento (walk-on quarterback for Michigan State) is better than Robinson.

Redshirt freshman safety Kyle Artinian tweeted “DENARD IS SOOOO BAD!” and freshman linebacker Jamal Lyles tweeted “I can play quarterback for the school in blue.”

All of the Robinson-related tweets were deleted, but Dantonio was not pleased about all of the tweets.  He said that it was “disrespectful” and said that he would address the matter with his players.  He even brought up Michigan State’s blowout loss to Alabama in the 2011 Capital One Bowl.

“Our guys need to keep their mouths shut,” said Dantonio. “That blunt enough? … Especially the ones not even playing.”

Allen’s last tweet about the Michigan game was written on Sunday afternoon: “Lol well apparently I hurt a lot of feelings sorry guys lol I guess we have to wait till October 20th to play some real football #GoGreen.”

Michigan will be playing against Michigan State on October 20 at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  University of Michigan lost to Michigan State four times in a row.  “You need to approach this game with humility,” said Dantonio. “When this becomes personal, that’s when it crosses the line.”
