Google Chairman Eric Schmidt Says 1.3M Androids Are Being Activated Per Day

At the Motorola event in New York, Google chairman Eric Schmidt said that around 1.3 million Android devices are being activated per day.  About 70,000 of those activations per day are tablets.  There are now about 480 million active Android devices in total out there.

Schmidt even pointed out that according to comScore, Android is now in the lead at 53% in terms of market share and iOS is second with 33%.  “Motorola invented the technology that underpins the mobile industry,” stated Motorola CEO Dennis Woodside.  Woodside pointed out that Neil Armstrong made a call from the moon on Motorola’s S-band transceiver.
