RUMOR: Hootsuite To Acquire Social Media Management Company Seesmic

Eric Eldon at TechCrunch is reporting that Seesmic is nearing a sale to Hootsuite.  Both companies are known for helping you manage your brand on Facebook and Twitter.  Seesmic started as a video commenting company back in 2007 and then they turned into a social media management company shortly after.

Seesmic was founded by Loic Le Meur, whom is also known as the guy that organizes the Le Web conferences in Europe.  Seesmic’s Ping service lets you post to multiple social media accounts like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook Pages from the web or the mobile app.

Some of Ping’s features include scheduling, convert attachments to links, personalized groups, e-mail posting options, and a bookmarklet.  Hootsuite has very similar feature and other analytics tools.
