Black iPhone 5’s Anodized Aluminum Could Be Scratched Pretty Easily

Black iPhone 5 Scratched
When it was announced that the black iPhone 5 would be using anodized aluminum on the back and edges, people grew concerned that it would wear down pretty quickly.  There is a long thread on MacRumors about the issue.  Apple got rid of the glass back on the iPhone 5, reduced the thickness of the glass panel on the front, and this has affected the design of the metal band around the edge.  On the Overclockers forum, one person took keys and a SIM card tray pin to the back and edges of an in-store iPhone 5 and saw the results (above).  This indicates that every day usage of the phone will cause wear-and-tear (not as extreme as above though).
