RIM Hit With Outages Across 3 Continents

Today RIM had to deal with a service outage that affected BlackBerry users across 3 continents.  ”Some users in Europe, Middle East & Africa are experiencing issues with their BlackBerry service,” said the company.  ”We are investigating and apologize for any inconvenience.”

RIM fixed the problem a few hours later and apologized to their customers for the outage.  It is unknown what caused the problem and how many people were affected.  About a year ago, RIM had the worst system failure in their history.  The cause of that outage was because of traffic-directing hardware at one of their European servers had failed.  That outage lasted several days and tens of millions of people were affected.
