Apple Suppliers Start Working On A Smaller Tablet
Apple’s suppliers in Asia has started to mass produce a new tablet computer that is smaller than the current iPad according to sources with The Wall Street Journal. Apple’s rivals like Samsung, Amazon.com, Google, HTC, HP, and Microsoft are making all types of sizes for their tablet products.
The Wall Street Journal sources said that the smaller iPad will have a 7.85-inch LCD display with a lower resolution than the iPad that was released this past March. LG Display in South Korea and AU Optronics in Taiwan has started mass production on the LCD screens for the smaller version of the iPad. It is rumored that Apple will hold a special event in October to reveal the new tablet.
The standard iPad size has been measuring at 9.7-inches and Apple has not changed that since the first model released in 2010. Some rivals of the smaller version of the iPad will include a 7-inch Google Nexus 7 tablet and Amazon Kindle Fire tablets. This tablet is expected to appeal to consumers who believe that the iPad is too heavy and too expensive.
