Interview With Tigerlabs Co-Founder Bert Navarette
The Tigerlabs Health program is the first healthcare IT accelerator that focuses on the pharmaceutical industry in the New Jersey. Their website is now live at Tigerlabs.co. The 3-month Tigerlabs Health program provides start-ups with $20,000 in seed funding, mentorship, software seminars, and a co-working office space. After the program is done, the start-ups give a presentation in the form of a demo day in front of prominent investors and industry executives. I talked to Tigerlabs co-founder Bert Navarette to learn more about the program.
Mr. Navarrette told me that the company is based in Princeton, New Jersey and has three main programs. Tigerlabs has Tigerlabs Commons, Tigerlabs Health, and Tigerlabs University. Tigerlabs Commons is a flexible co-working space in Princeton, New Jersey across the street from Princeton University. Tigerlabs Health has immediate proximity to big pharmaceutical companies and is accepting applications on November 15th. The program is accepting 10 companies. Tigerlabs University is a 3-month summer accelerator program to provide a venue for passionate students to pursue a career in technology entrepreneurship.
He told me that around 7 teams went through Tigerlab University already and it is specific to students whether they are current students or recent graduates. Some of the companies that participate in the program include mobile apps or an Internet companies that is related to medical devices.
Tigerlabs started last summer. Mr. Navarrette found that he was mentoring entrepreneurs for a long time and he wanted to make that a full-time job. This is what inspired him to launch the accelerator program.
