Richard MacManus Leaves ReadWriteWeb

Richard MacManus is the founder of tech blog ReadWriteWeb.  He started a tech blog even before it was popular back in 2003.  He was the editor in chief since then until now. Mr. MacManus is stepping down from SAY Media, the company that acquired ReadWriteWeb in December of last year for roughly $5 million.  Mr. MacManus said that he’s “confident ReadWriteWeb will continue to explore what’s next in technology with the thoughtful analysis you have all come to expect.”  He said that he is now ready to start the “next chapter” of his career by writing a book.

“I’ll be announcing the subject of my book soon, after I’ve had a bit of a break from the blogging world. What I can tell you now is that the book will be literary nonfiction and focused on the things I’ve always been very passionate about: technology and the people who use and benefit from that technology,” said Mr. MacManus.

Between MacManus’ departure from the company and Senior Writer Marshall Kirkpatrick now focusing on his startup Little Bird, ReadWriteWeb is losing some of their skilled talent.  However SAY Media hired former Business Insider editor Dan Frommer to the team, who would become editor at larger.
