AppDirect Buys jBilling
AppDirect is a cloud app store company that has announced the acquisition of open source billing company jBilling. AppDirect said that jBilling will not be affected by the acquisition and the company will continue to support and sell jBilling products.
AppDirect has created “white label” software-as-a-service app store. AppDirect’s customers include local IT consulting companies that want to sell SaaS applications like SendGrid, Google Apps, DocuSign, etc.
AppDirect was founded by Daniel Saks, Andy Sen, and Nicolas Desmarais. “Businesses don’t know where to find and purchase software. They mostly go through local consultants or buy boxed software through companies like Office Depot,” said Mr. Saks in an interview with TechCrunch.
AppDirect raised $3.25 million in seed funding in 2011 and an $8.5 million Series A round from iNovia Capital. jBilling is based in Ottawa, Canada and was founded in 2002.This article was written by Amit Chowdhry. You can follow me at @amitchowdhry or on Google+ at +AmitChowdhry
