Nokia Acquires 3D Street Level Earthmine, Taking On Google Street View

Nokia has acquired a 3D street level imagery company called Earthmine.  Earthmine is a company that takes 3D images of cities and has been providing 3D map solutions since 2006.  Nokia will be integrating Earthmine’s technology into their Here maps system to compete directly against the Google Street View service.  Nokia is hosting an event today that highlights how they will use Earthmine technology in the future.
