Square Processing $10 Billion Per Year

Square announced that they are hitting around $10 billion in annual payments.  There are around 7,000 Starbucks stores that are now accepting Square Wallet, which is helping drive those payments.  Square raised $200 million in Series D this past September.  The company was processing $6 billion as of June 2012 and $5 billion as of April 2012.

Facebook Launches Social Jobs App

Facebook is strengthening their ability to get into the job search and recruiting marketing by launching a new application that aggregates job postings from about 1.7 million jobs that are open in the United States.  I believe that the more job resources there are, the better it will be in helping the unemployment problems we have in this country.  The Social Jobs App was created through a partnership between Facebook, the U.S. Department of Labor, the National Association of Colleges and Employers, the Direct Employers Association and the National Association of State Workforce Agencies.

The Best Electric Cars

Since the Pulse2 founders were raised near the Motor City, we have naturally become car enthusiasts. We have tons of family and friends that work at the big auto companies and their suppliers. After the Department of Energy and the Obama administration pushed billions of dollars in the auto industry, we saw some changes in the environment around us. The optimism from Detroit companies grew since they were getting into the electric vehicle game. We have seen Henrik Fisker and Elon Musk build some great automobiles over the last few years too. This is why we have compiled a list of some of the best electric cars available on the market right now along with their specs. Chevy Spark EV Debuting At The L.A. Auto Show

General Motors brand Chevrolet will be debuting the Spark EV at the L.A. Auto Show at the end of this month.  The Chevy Spark EV will be available on the market next year.  GM will also demo expanded functionality of the MyLink system at the auto show.

NoSQL DB Company 10gen Raises $81 Million Total

Intel Capital and Red Hat has invested in NoSQL database company 10gen.  10gen has now raised a total of $81 million.  10gen is known as being the sponsor for popular open source NoSQL database MongoDB.  This round of funding was undisclosed.  According to TechCrunch, the company now has a total of $81 million in funding.

TaskRabbit Acquires Kids Clothing Startup Company One Jackson

TaskRabbit is an online marketplace startup that gives people the opportunity to outsource small jobs and tasks.  The company has acquired an e-commerce website for kids’ clothing called OneJackson.  The terms of the deal were not disclosed, but we suspect that it was higher than the $2 million in funding that the company raised from Accel Partners, Trinity Ventures, Next View, Floodgate, and Cowboy Ventures.  TaskRabbit raised a total of $37.7 million.  One Jackson is TaskRabbit’s second acquisition — their first was SkillShare.

Former Zynga CFO Dave Wehner Joins Facebook

Former Zynga CFO Dave Wehner now has a senior financial position at Facebook.  Mr. Wehner is a former investment banker that joined Zynga in 2010.  Mark Vranesh replaced Mr. Wehner as CFO at Zynga.  Mr. Vranesh was the chief accounting officer before becoming CFO.  It is believed that Dave Wehner’s position at Facebook is vice president of corporate finance and business planning.
