Sync.me [iTunes Link] is a social contact synchronization service for the iPhone which displays the Facebook statuses or photos for the person that is calling on the screen as they make a phone call to you. The company has raised $4 million in funding from undisclosed private investors.
The company will use the funding for scaling their business and for developing new features. Sync.me has 5 million users and is syncing over 1 billion contacts worldwide per week.
The company is especially popular in Japan. They recently translated their service into the Japanese language.
Sync.me updates your contacts on the iPhone with photos, birthdays, and statuses from the Facebook profiles of your friends.
