Call Of Duty Black Ops 2 Made $500 Million In 24 Hours
The latest Call of Duty game, known as Black Ops 2, has made $500 million in retail sales around the world in 24 hours. “With first day sales of over half a billion dollars worldwide, we believe Call of Duty is the biggest entertainment launch of the year for the fourth year in a row,” said Activision CEO Bobby Kotick.
Millions of Call of Duty fans attended over 16,000 midnight openings at retail stores worldwide to be some of the first people to own the game. The trailer for the game hit over 30 million YouTube views since being uploaded on October 29th.
This past May, Amazon.com revealed that the single-day pre-orders for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 was 3 times higher than the one-day pre-order total for the original Call of Duty: Black Ops.
The stories contained within Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 was written by David Goyer of The Dark Knight Rises. The story takes place in 2025 and a terrorist organization has taken control of U.S. high-tech unmanned machines. There are some scenes that look like they were out of the Terminator, but other scenes also happen on horseback.
Black Ops 2 beat out Halo 4 in terms of how much was earned in 24 hours. Halo 4 made $220 million in the first 24 hours.
