U.S. Representative Zoe Lofgren Turning To Reddit For Legislative Ideas

Reddit has become a great way for high-profile celebrities and politicians to communicate directly with their fans.  This past August, President Obama even participated in an Ask Me Anything (AMA) session.  Last month Psy of Gangnam Style fame did an AMA too.  U.S. Rep. Zoe Lofgren plans to use ideas from Reddit to come up with new legislative ideas.

“Lofgren wants to craft a bill that would stop the government from shutting down a website accused of copyright violations until the owners are given notice and a chance to defend themselves,” said Hillicon Valley blog.

There are some people in the Reddit community that make the website seem very controversial, but there are a lot of politically savvy people that use it.  Some of the Reddit users spearheaded successful campaigns against SOPA, PIPA, and CISPA.
