Japanese Company Letting Parents 3D-Print Their Fetus From An MRI Scan

A company is Japan is allowing expectant parents to be able to purchase a 3D printed model of their unborn child for around $1,200.  The “Shape of an Angel” model is around 9 centimeters and is based of white resin encased in a transparent block that forms the shape of the mother’s body.  The modeling data comes from an MIR scan.

“As it is only once in a lifetime that you are pregnant with that child, we received requests for these kind of models from pregnant women who… do not want to forget the feelings and experience of that time,” stated Tomohiro Kinoshita of FASOTEC.

FASOTEC is also selling a small version of the 3D printing model that can be used as a mobile phone trinket.
