Ford Extending MyFord Warranty Following Consumer Complaints
Ford Motor Company is upgrading and extending the MyFord Touch system warranty by two years after they received a series of consumer complaints and poor reviews. Consumer Reports. Ford improved the voice recognition capability and navigation in version 3.5 of the software. Ford head of Americas Mark Field said that the first wave of updates will arrive for some users on December 10th.
“We’re thinking more and more like not only a car company, but a technology company,” stated Mr. Fields at a roundtable with reporters during the Los Angeles Auto Show. “It’s very important to update the vehicles on a more frequent basis particularly around software and applications.”
The software update will be offered to over 1 million MyFord Touch owners. The new MyFordTouch would be able to better recognize natural speech and it will have a simpler Bluetooth pairing process.
Ford is also extending the warranty on their system in Ford brand vehicles to 5 years with unlimited miles, which is up from three years and 36,000 miles. Lincoln software will be covered for 6 years with unlimited miles, which is up from four years and 50,000 miles.
Ford vehicle owners can request USB drives from Ford with the updated software.
