Ford Fusion Is The Green Car Of The Year
The Green Car Journal has named the winner of the Green Car of the Year award at the Los Angeles Auto Show. They have chosen the Ford Fusion as the Green Car winner. The Fusion completed against cars made by Toyota, Mazda, Dodge, and another Ford model.
The 2013 Ford Fusion has a standard 2.5-liter engine with a plug-in hybrid system. The Fusion receives an EPA average of about 26 MPG. Buyers can upgrade to either a 1.6-liter or 2-liter EcoBoost engine. Each of those engines uses direct injection and a turbocharger to turn in an average of about 29MPG and 26MPG, respectively.
The 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid uses a 2-liter engine combined with an electric motor. The car uses energy recaptured from baking to turn about a 47 MPG according to EPA testing. The Ford Fusion beat the Ford C-Max, which is available as a hybrid and a plug-in. The other nominees include the Toyota Prius C, the Dodge Dart, and the Mazda CX-5 SkyActiv.
