LG H13 Smart TV Chip To Debut At CES 2013

LG has started designing their own ARM processors and the the first example, known as the LG H13, will debut in a Smart TV at CES 2013 next month.  Designed by LG Electronics, the H13 will be built for the company by TSMC.  The H13 is a 28nm chip that is expected to use ARM’s Cortex A15 architecture.

As a comparison Samsung’s Exynos 5250 is a 32nm chip, which may mean that LG’s version is more powerful.  The H in H13 means “Home Entertainment” and the 13 is a reference to the year 2013.  LG is putting around 550 designers o the H13 project to develop a mobile application processor.
