Max Levchin Joins Yahoo! Board of Directors

Max Levchin was a co-founder of PayPal and is a former Google vice president of engineering.  Levchin has just joined the board of directors at Yahoo!  The company.  After selling PayPal to eBay, he started another company called Slide.  Slide was sold to Google for $182 million in 2010.  Levchin was the first investor in Yelp, which went public in March 2012.  Two of Yahoo!’s board members David Kenny and Brad Smith stepped down to “focus on their respective companies.”

“Max is someone I’ve admired throughout my career for his phenomenal sense for great products and keen focus on user experiences,” stated Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer.  “I’m confident that his strong product and technology expertise will be a tremendous asset to Yahoo! as we work to transform the world’s daily habits.”

Levchin also said that he was a longtime admirer of Marissa Mayer.  He said that “her decision to take the top role at Yahoo! was a very ballsy move, and when she asked for my help, I was excited about working with her.”
