Dell Buys Data Protection Company Credant Technologies

Dell has acquired a data protection company called Credant Technologies.  Credant’s data protection technologies are designed to encrypt information on  smartphones, tablets, servers, and the cloud.  Dell did not disclose the financial details in the acquisition.

“When combined with the change in compute behaviors and data in-flight, Dell can now offer a differentiated security proposition based on its own intellectual property,” stated Jeff Clarke, the president of Dell’s End User Computing Solutions.

Dell acquired infrastructure automation company Gales Technologies last month,  Quest Software for $2.4 billion in July 2012, and Make Technologies and Wyse Technology in April 2012.
