Google Maps For The iPhone Was Download 10 Million Times In 48 Hours

Jeff Huber, senior vice president of Commerce & Local at Google, announced on Google Plus that Google Maps for iOS was downloaded over 10 million times in less than 48 hours.

“We’re excited for the positive reception of Google Maps for iPhone around the world. Congratulations to the Maps Team on the recognition for the passion and hard work they poured into it, for this release and over the last 7+ years,” said Huber.

About five days ago, Google Maps became the number most downloaded application in under 7 hours.  iPhone owners grew frustrated with the inaccuracies that Apple Maps when upgrading to iOS 6, which explains why Google Maps grew in popularity so quickly.  Another major reason why the app grew in popularity so quickly is because the new Google Maps application even has voice-guided turn-by-turn directions.  One of the features I like best is that the app automatically grabs my bookmarked locations known as “My Places.”
