Dropbox Acquires Photo Cloud Storage Company Snapjoy
Dropbox is one of the largest storage solutions companies in the world. Dropbox has acquired a cloud-based photo library company called Snapjoy. Dropbox and Snapjoy were both incubated by Y Combinator. Snapjoy’s platform is able to collect photos from multiple sources like Flickr, iPhones, desktops, etc. Snapjoy users can share all of their photos or some of them. They can also invite certain friends from different social networks to view the photos.
Here is what Tapjoy had to say about the acquisition:
As a fellow Y Combinator company, we’ve always admired Dropbox and loved their product. From the moment we met the founders, it was clear we shared a common goal. By combining forces with their amazing team, we can leverage the technology and scale of their platform and focus on what matters — delivering an incredible photo experience to over 100 million people.
Snapjoy will no longer be accepting new signups. This article was written by Amit Chowdhry. You can follow me at @amitchowdhry or on Google+ at +AmitChowdhry
