Google Extending Free Voice Calls In The U.S. and Canada Through 2013

Google has announced on the company blog that they are extending free domestic calls from Gmail in the United States and Canada for another year.  They have been offering this service for free since 2010.  Now Gmail users will be able to make free domestic calls throughout 2013.  The calls would need to be made through the Gmail chat widget.  Google launched voice calls in 2008.  If you do not live in the U.S., you can make calls at very low rates through Gmail.
