Samsung Galaxy S III Becomes First LTE Phone In Russia

In Russia there has been an LTE phone network available for a while, but it has been used mostly for tablets.  The Samsung Galaxy S III will be the first LTE smartphone in Russia according to Engadget.  On December 20th, the S III will hit 17 Russian cities through MegaFon at a price of 29,990 rubles ($973) without a contract.

Verizon Upgrading Copper Wire Damaged By Sandy With Fiber-Optic Cable

Verizon Wireless CEO Lowell McAdam has announced that they will be replacing the copper wires damaged by Hurricane Sandy with updated fiber-optical cables.  McAdam was unable to get an estimate of the actual damage on their network while speaking at the UBS Financial conference.

Carlos Bazan-Canabal Says Yahoo!’s Mexican Lawsuit May Be Worth $3.5 Billion

The Yahoo! lawsuit may be a lot more serious than the company thought.  A court in Mexico City ruled that Yahoo! must pay $2.7 billion for breach of contract.  The plaintiff in the case Carlos Bazan-Canabal said that Yahoo! could owe over $2.7 billion.

Zynga Files Paperwork In Nevada For Real-Money Gambling Games

You may know Zynga as the social gaming company behind hits like Zynga Poker and FarmVille.  Zynga has started preparing to create gambling games and they spent around $75,000 lobbying for it.    The company filed preparatory paperwork in Nevada for the gambling games according to The Wall Street Journal.

John McAfee Gets Arrested

John McAfee, the founder of anti-virus company McAfee Inc., has been arrested by the police.  McAfee was on the run from the police in Belize for murder and other crimes.  McAfee was attempting to get asylum from Guatemala.

Chevy Volt Owners Have Driven Over 100 Million Electric Miles

If you are the owner of a Chevy Volt, you have contributed to the vehicle surpassing the 100 million electric miles driven milestone.  The vehicle went for sale two years ago this month and the average Volt owner drives over 65% of the time in electric mode.  Volt owners drive around 900 miles between fill-ups after charging regularly.  The EPA has estimated that the vehicle hits around 98 MPGe, which puts the electric-only range at 35 mpg city and 40 mpg on the highway.

HP Launches A Convertible Laptop-Tablet Called The EliteBook Revolve

Hewlett Packard has launched the HP EliteBook Revolve.  The Revolve is a laptop that can turn into a tablet.  The convertible tablet is powered by the touch-friendly version of the Windows 8 operating system.  The EliteBook Revolve has a third-generation Intel Core processor, an 11.6-inch HD display, 720p video camera, USB 3.0 ports, and up to a 256GB SSD hard drive.  The whole laptop weighs 3.04 pounds — you can also buy an optional pen accessory for the convertible tablet.  HP is planning to ship the EliteBook Revolve in March.  Pricing is not yet known for the convertible tablet.

Apple’s Streaming Radio Service Is “Nowhere” Near Complete

Apple is reportedly working on creating a streaming Internet radio service that would compete against companies like Spotify and Pandora.  Apple is rumored to be seeking deals with music labels to get more flexibility than what Pandora is getting.  The rumor about the new Apple radio service was that it would only be months away.  However the music labels and Apple are far from making a licensing deal, but Apple is still hoping for an early 2013 launch according to CNET:
