Spotify Announces Discovery Service, 5 Million Paying Customers, 1 Billion Playlists

Spotify held a press announcement in New York City today where they announced several new features.  Frank Ocean performed a couple songs at the event and there was even an appearance from Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich.  Ulrich is known for heavily opposing former music file-sharing service  Napster about 12 years ago. Napster was co-founded by Sean Parker, a current board member and investor in Spotify.

T-Mobile To Get The iPhone In 2013

Deutsche Telekom CEO Rene Obermann has confirmed that T-Mobile USA will start selling the Apple iPhone in 2013.  During investors’ day meetings today, Obermann said that T-Mobile and Apple have signed an agreement to “launch Apple products in the U.S. in 2013.”  Obermann did not elaborate on what products, but we can almost guarantee that it will include plans for the iPhone.  T-Mobile is the only telecommunications company out of the big 4 that does not have the iPhone on their network so they have a lot of catching up to do.

Jimmy Maymann Named As CEO Of The Huffington Post

The Huffington Post has made Jimmy Maymann the new CEO of the company.  Maymann was previously the head of the website’s international expansion.  He will report to Arianna Huffington, the editor-in-chief and co-founder of the website.  The Huffington Post is owned by AOL.  “He brings a vibrant entrepreneurial spirit and an ability to scale a business, so he was the first person I turned to to be our C.E.O.,” stated Huffington.  Maymann will be responsible for the traffic and revenue of the website.

Zack Morris Of Saved By The Bell Gets Mashed Up With Shark Tank

Snapseed App Is Now Free and Has Hit Android

Snapseed is a popular photo-editing application that Google acquired in September.  The app used to be paid, but Google has made it free.  Google also released the app on Android too.  The Android version of the app looks identical to the Android version of the app.  The app lets you crop, rotate, and add filters and frames to your photos.  Google added a couple to new features to the iOS version of the app.  There is a new filter option called Retrolux that has been added to the app.  Snapseed’s iOS app has new frame options and a Google+ sharing option.

Google+ Now Has 235 Million Active Users Across Google

On top of announcing that Google+ has been integrated with Google Groups to create Google Communities, Google has also announced the number of active users.  Over 500 million people have upgraded to Google+ and 235 million of those people are active across Google.  This means that they are pressing the +1 button on Google Play, writing reviews in Maps, and hanging out in Gmail. About 135 million are active in the stream itself.
