Teenager Arrested After Bragging About Drinking and Driving On Facebook
Police in Oregon have arrested a teenager that wrote a Facebook status saying “Drivin drunk… classic but whoever’s vehicle i hit i am sorry. ,” The local news channel KGW said that two people tipped police officers after reading the post on Facebook.
The police investigated the teenager’s car and found that the damage on the vehicle matched the damage of two other vehicles that were hit on New Year’s morning. The suspect was handcuffed and was charged with two counts of “failing to perform the duties of a driver.”
However he was not charged with drunk driving because a Facebook post is not enough evidence for intoxication according to Deputy Chief Brad Johnston. The police in Astoria are active on social media. “When you post…on Facebook, you have to figure that it is not going to stay private long,” stated the Astoria police in a press release.
