Samsung Records An $8.3 Billion Quarterly Profit

Samsung Electronics is currently touting a lot of their innovative electronics at CES 2013, but the company said that their smartphones are driving their profits the most.  Samsung made around $8.3 billion in profit last quarter according to an earnings guidance report.

The Galaxy S III smartphone was the primary sales driver.  Samsung sold around 500 phones per minute last quarter (or around 30,000 phones per hour).

Samsung released 37 phones last year and many of them were popular, not just the Galaxy S III.  Nokia released 9 devices and and Apple released 1 in the last year.  Samsung will be releasing their full earnings report on January 25th.
