Al Gore Bought $29.5 Million Worth Of Apple Stock For A Low Price
Earlier this month Al Jazeera acquired Al Gore’s Current TV for $500 million. Al Gore reportedly owns 20% in Current TV so he made around $100 million from the sale. Al Gore’s net worth is now believed to be around $300 million. But Al Gore did not stop there this month.
Gore also exercised options to buy 59,000 shares of Apple stock on January 15th for a price of $7.475 per share. Apple’s stock price is around $500 today so that means that Gore bought $29.5 million worth of Apple stock for only $441,000.
Al Gore was the 45th Vice President of the U.S. from 1993-2001 under President Bill Clinton. He was the Democratic Party’s nominee for President and had lost the controversial 2000 U.S. presidential election even though he won the popular vote. Ever since then, Al Gore became an author and environmental activist. He is a member of the Board of Directors at Apple and is a senior adviser to Google.
