Foursquare Hits Nearly 3 Billion Check-Ins, Launches “Best Of” Lists
Foursquare is the location-based mobile social network that has hit almost 3 billion “check-ins.” The company recently announced the The Best of Foursquare 2012 (note: when clicking on the link, if it says “not found,” hit refresh. The Best list features places and businesses in the U.S. with the highest number of check-ins and review data created by users.
The data includes tips, likes, dislikes, popularity, and the check-ins from Foursquare’s 30 million plus users. The company created databases for 30 cities including New York, Chicago, Detroit, San Francisco, Austin, etc.
“One of the things our data shows is how each city is unique,” stated a Foursquare in a blog post. “Bostonians love seafood, Portland is a veggie paradise, and Philly may be the city of brotherly love, but what they really love is a good sandwich. Since no two cities are the same, each page is customized to help you get a feel for the local flavor.”
After clicking on one of those cities, you will immediately see the top ten businesses in each category such as Food and Nightlife along with the rating of that venue. There is a link to that Foursquare profile page and a button to save it to your account.
