How A Facebook Glitch Took Down Major Websites
Many large websites have Facebook Connect features built-in whether it is a widget showing how many people have liked them or a Facebook “Like” button that posts a link to your News Feed. Yesterday, many large websites were taken down due to a bug in Facebook’s code.
Some of these websites include MSNBC, Yelp, and CNN. The bug would redirect pages almost immediately after arriving on a website to an error page within Facebook.com. The issue was resolved on the same day, but it just proves how much the social network company controls what happens on the Internet.
